The pair have already met twice this season, both times at the Santiago Bernabeu. In their first meeting of the campaign, Los Blancos ran out as 3-1 winners in La Liga. Barcelona returned the facour three months later, defeating Carlo Ancelotti’s side 3-1 in the Supercopa de Espana.
Both sides added to their playing personnel of the summer, with the Blaugrana being the more active in the market of the two.
Real Madrid had two new incomings, in the form of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Barcelona made a whopping eight new signings ahead of this season. The most notable arrivals were that of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.
Ahead of this evening’s tie, we have priced up the market values of both squads, and have come up with a combined XI based on the players’ values, per Transfermarkt.

Goalkeeper – Thibaut Courtois (£60m)
Valued at £60m, Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois gets the nod to start in goal. His competitor Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is valued only half as much, at £30m.
Right-Back – Jules Kounde (£60m)
Naturally a centre-back, Barcelona’s Jules Kounde has been deployed as a right-back on several ocassions this term. The Frenchman is named in the XI ahead of Los Blancos’ Dani Carvajal, who is valued at £18m
Centre-Backs – Eder Militao (£60m) and Ronald Araujo (£60m)
It’s a centre-back apiece for both sides in the combined XI. Both valued at £60m, Militao and Araujo command the combined El Clasico defence. The pair get in ahead of Rudiger (£40m), Christensen (£30m), Eric Garcia (£18m) and Nacho Fernandez (£5m).
Left-Back – David Alaba (£55m)
Again, another defender who mainly features as a centre-back – Alaba has the capability to play in left-back. The Austrian has featured in the postition as recent as last week, where he started for Real Madrid against Liverpool in the Champions League. Alaba gets into the side ahead of Ferland Mendy (£40m), Alejandro Balde (£15m), Marcos Alonso (£9m) and Jordi Alba (£5m).
Central-Midfielders – Pedri (£100m), Gavi (£90m) and Tchouameni (£90m)
Two Barcelona players and one Real Madrid player feature in midfield, with a combined value of £280m. The likes of Eduardo Camavinga (£50m), Frenkie de Jong (£50m), Franck Kessie (£35m), Toni Kroos (£20m) and Luka Modric (£10m) all miss out on a spot in the lineup.
Right-Winger – Federico Valverde (£100m)
Valverde is a man of many positions, mainly a central-midfielder, the Uruguayan can also be deployed on the wing. He makes our lineup ahead of Rodrygo (£80m), Ousmane Dembele (£60m), Raphinha (£50m) and Marco Asensio (£25m).
Left-Winger – Vinicius Junior (£12om)
The most valuable player in both squads start out wide on the left for us. Vinicius Junior recently provided an assist and netted a brace in Los Blancos’ 5-2 Champions League victory over Liverpool. The Brazilian gets the nod ahead of Ansu Fati (£50m) and Ferran Torres (£35m).
Striker – Robert Lewandowski (£45m)
Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski is the final piece of the puzzle, as he is included ahead of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema (£35m). The Polish striker may be unavailable for the El Clasico this evening, but is valued at £10m more than Balon d’Or winner Benzema.
Combined XI Value – £840m
