Ruben Selles has seen his odds to be sacked by Southampton shortened to 14/1, following the Saints’ shocking FA Cup fifth round defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town.

Southampton boss Ruben Selles watched on as his Saints side suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup last night.

Two penalties on either side of the break for Gavan Holohan inspired the Mariners to a monumental upset.

Duje Caleta-Car pulled one back after 65 minutes, before Theo Walcott’s late equaliser was cancelled out by VAR.

A terrible result for the Saints, but an incredible victory for League Two’s 16th placed side – who reach the FA Cup quarter-final for the first time since 1939.

Selles was appointed as permanent manager until the end of the season less than a week ago. He is now the fourth favourite to go in the latest next Premier League manager to be sacked odds.

Prior to the shocking Grimsby defeat, Saints lost out to fellow relegation-battlers Leeds United.

This comes after an impressive 1-0 win over Premier League big-spenders Chelsea in Selles’ first match in charge on the South Coast.

Southampton are currently bottom of the Premier League table. They are now the odds on favourites to see the drop – priced at 1/3.

Despite only being in the job permanently for less than a week, only three managers have lower odds than Selles to be sacked.

Chelsea’s Graham Potter is the favourite in the next Premier League manager to be sacked odds, priced at 1/3.

West Ham’s David Moyes and Bournemouth’s Gary O’Neil are also ahead of Selles in the sack odds, priced at 5/1 and 12/1 respectively.
