Ruby Walsh Cheltenham Tip For 2023 Stayers’ Hurdle
Cheltenham Stayers’ Hurdle Tips: HOME BY THE LEE @ 5/1 with Virgin Bet
Despite feeling the last win by the Stayers’ Hurdle favourite Blazing Khal was decent, Ruby thinks it’s not good enough to win Festival race.
Ruby also thinks that another leading fancy Teahupoo will need the ground softer.
Klassical Dream, who Ruby was actually 3-from-3 riding, is thought to have a squeak, but it’s another Irish runner- Home By The Lee – that gets the silver fox’s seal of approval.
The former champion jockey said he was impressed with this Joseph O’Brien horse when beating Bob Olinger at Navan and last time Ashdale Bob at Leopardstown.
Ruby told his Paddy Power blog followers – “I was impressed with him at Christmas when he beat Ashdale Bob. I think that was a strong race and he was going to win from a long way out. He’s an eight-year-old, there’s a bit of strength about him now, he was disappointing in the race last year, but I think they’re riding him a little differently.”
Home By The Lee is also a horse has also been ridden wide more often in his races and even though this doesn’t save ground it does mean he can stay out of trouble.
If similar tactics are used at Cheltenham, this could also be a plus up the big wide straight – meaning Home By The Lee will have an uninterrupted charge to the line.
