SALADAM (system – Olly Murphy, first-time tongue-tie, fresh)
Olly Murphy has a solid record with his runners in a first-time tongue-tie, especially those who are running fresh (after a break of at least six weeks). Seventeen of the 65 qualifiers won (26.2% strike rate) for a profit of £16.45 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected number of winners = 10.57). Those who travelled more 100 miles to the races were 13 from 39 (33.3% for a profit of £19.13. SALADAM was beaten into a close second at odds of 1-3 here last time but the headgear and eight-week break could make the difference this time.
PLUMPTON 3.35
FORTUNA LIGNA (system – Anthony Honeyball, first run in a handicap hurdle)
Anthony Honeyball has a good record with his handicap hurdle debutants, scoring with 25 of the 101 qualifiers for a profit of £79.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. FORTUNA LIGNA caught the eye from off the pace when fourth at Wincanton last time and may improve now switched to handicap company.
WOLVERHAMPTON 8.30
JOHNNY BOOM (system – New Bay, handicaps, top-three finish last time out)
Progeny of the sire New Bay have a fine record when running in handicaps after finishing in the top three on their latest outing, landing 62 of their 180 starts (34.4% strike-rate) for a huge profit of £111.99 to a £1 level stake at SP. JOHNNY BOOM, narrowly beaten into second place at Southwell on his last start, has sound claims of going one better in a race that should be run to suit his patient style.
