UK betting sites have slashed Graham Potter’s sack odds to 17/20 after his side lost 1-0 to Spurs in today’s afternoon kick-off.
The first-half failed to live up to what is expected of a London Derby, with both sides struggling to create many chances. Spurs managed to conjure up a dangerous attack as Pierre Emile Hojbjerg’s effort struck the post.
The visitors were unable to create with anything of note, with their best chance of the half falling to Joao Felix. His shot didn’t trouble Fraser Forster in the Spurs goal and the half-ended 0-0.
VAR had it’s usual controversy, as Referee Stuart Atwell sent Hakim Ziyech off for an alleged face push Atwell then viewed the push on screen and rescinded his decision, deeming it a yellow card instead.
Antonio Conte’s side started the second-half in electric fashion, taking the lead in the opening minutes. Oliver Skipp volleyed the ball past Kepa from over 20 yards out, a goal of the season contender from the Spurs youngster.
Potter’s troubles grew with around ten minutes to go, as Harry Kane was in the right place at the right time to double Spurs’ lead. Chelsea huffed and puffed in the last five minutes, but it wasn’t enough for the Blues.
Can Potter avoid the sack?
This loss to Spurs has piled even more pressure on the Chelsea manager and it is now five Premier League games without a win. The odds being slashed to 17/20 is hardly surprising, as the clubs recent transfer spend has left supporters expecting silverware.
If Potter manages to avoid the sack then he will be preparing his side for their next league fixture, as they welcome Leeds to Stamford Bridge. A loss against yet another relegation contender could bring an end to Potter’s time at Chelsea.
