Progeny of the sire Milan have a fine record on their first start following wind surgery, landing 21 of their 109 starts (21 from 100 over jumps only) for a profit of £114.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. BREWIN’UPASTORM, winner of the Grade 2 National Spirit Hurdle in 2021, was also second by a head in last year’s renewal and is taken to bounce back from his modest fifth to Marie’s Rock in the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham last time.

Ten-year-olds, the youngest age group eligible to take part, win more than their fair share of veterans’ handicap chases. Those who finished sixth or worse last time out often prove to be value bets, landing 71 of their 468 starts (15.2%) for a profit of £105.82 to a £1 level stake at SP. THE LATE LEGEND often jumps out to his right and should appreciate this track after his disappointing effort at left-handed Doncaster last time.
