Liverpool’s chances of Champions League qualification have taken a hit, with UK betting sites pricing them at 21/10 after their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace welcomed Liverpool to Selhurst Park, in a match that got off to an extremely nervy start. The opening 20 minutes lacked any dangerous chances, with Diogo Jota’s rushed strike being the only slight threat to Vincente Guaita’s goal.

Patrick Vieria’s side were without their talisman, Wilfried Zaha who missed out due to injury and his presence in attack was sorely missed. However, Jean-Philippe Mateta came close as he capitalised on a poor Alexander-Arnold pass, but struck just wide.

It was a similar story in the opening parts of the second-half, very little for fans to get excited about. Liverpool sprung into action when Mohamed Salah’s effort cannoned off the crossbar, in what could have been his 20th goal in all competitions.

Neither side looked likely to score a winner and the Eagles appeared to settle for a draw, offering very little in attack. However, Liverpool could not find a way to score and it ended goalless at Selhurst Park.

Can Liverpool reach the top four?

Today’s result symbolised the lack of quality that the Reds have shown this season. They now sit eighth in the Premier League, climbing above Brighton who have a game in hand. Klopp will be looking to turn things around with the returning Luis Diaz being a huge boost.

If Klopp and his side want to qualify for the Champions League, then climbing into the top four is vital. As their chances of qualifying for the competition by winning it this season look unlikely, due to a 5-2 loss to Real Madrid in the round of 16 opening leg.
