Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp’s dream of winning the world’s greatest steeplechase is still alive as the horse he part-owns – Back On The Lash – is one of the remaining 77 Aintree Grand National runners left in the race.

Harry Redknapp Eyeing £500k Grand National Win

Harry Redknapp scooped the jackpot when winning I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here in 2018, but he’ll be hoping to better than on April 15th with a possible Grand National win.

The respected football pundit part owns a horse called Back On The Lash, who is trained by Martin Keighley.

The 9 year-old was one of 77 Grand National runners left in the race when the weights were announced on Tuesday 21st February.

Redknapp told the Mirror “This would be my first runner in the National and I would love it. I’d love to go and watch him run. I really hope he gets in.

“He’s a game horse, he’ll go to Cheltenham now and we’ll see where we go. Let’s hope he gets in. It would be fantastic. I love the racing, it’s my big passion.”

Back On The Lash is on offer @ 50/1 Virgin Bet with the best UK bookmakers to win the 2023 Grand National. A win for the horse would net Redknapp and his part-owners a cool £500,000.

Back On The Lash Will Need 24 Horses To Still Come Out Of The Race

With a maximum of 40 Grand National runners, there is a lot still to happen for Back On The Lash to get into the race. He’s number 64 on the list, so will need 24 horses to still drop out before April 15th.

Last year’s Aintree hero – Noble Yeats – currently heads the betting with Grand National odds of @ 10/1 with Virgin Bet.

It’s Off to The Cheltenham Festival First For Back On The Lash

However, before a possible date at Aintree, Back On The Lash is also entered in the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

This race will be run on Wednesday 15th March, with Redknapp expected to be at the Prestbury Park track to cheer his chaser on. He’s on offer @ 16/1 with Virgin Bet for this Cheltenham Festival race.

Back On The Lash is also no stranger to winning at Cheltenham. He landed the Cross Country race at their Trials Day fixture at the end of January. If running, the Redknapp 9 year-old will be taking on last year’s Grand National third Delta Work.
