Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as a cheaper alternative to Barcelona star, Frenkie de Jong.
The Belgium international signed for Leicester back in 2019 after his impressive spells at Anderlecht and Monaco made him one of Europe’s hottest prospects. Since then he has played 186 matches for the Foxes, contributing to 28 goals and 25 assists.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away since the beginning of the season and was reportedly on Arsenal’s radar in January. However the move did not materialise, as the Gunners decided to sign Jorginho for £12m instead to cover Thomas Partey’s injury.
According to reports, Manchester United are interested in bringing the Belgian to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window. His contract expires at the end of the season which may tempt Erik ten Hag as the Dutchman looks for a midfield general next season.

United’s midfield options may need strengthening next season with Christian Eriksen still sat on the sidelines and Marcel Sabitzer’s loan deal coming to an end. The Red Devils have been linked with a variety of possible signings, which includes the likes of Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice.
However ten Hag’s side may face tough competition for the Foxes’ star, as Newcastle are also interested in acquiring his signature. The Magpies are sat one place behind United in fourth as they push for Champions League football and could potentially see the former Monaco midfielder as an option for next season.
