Ahead of their Carabao Cup Final clash against Manchester United this weekend, Ryan Fraser has been frozen out of the Newcastle squad with the Scotsman now training with the Under 21’s.

Fraser made his last appearance for Newcastle way back in October of last year and having played just 311 minutes of Premier League football this season, it’s clear to see that the winger has fallen out of favour on Tyneside.

This week the Fraser saga took a new turn however, as the player was told that he would not be a part of Newcastle’s squad for this weekend’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester United.

Fraser is not only not making the trip to Wembley this season, but he is also training with the under 21’s at Newcastle now and is certainly unlikely to ever play for the Magpies ever again.

So where did it all go wrong for Ryan Fraser?

Just last month Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was questioned about the whereabouts of Fraser and in response he seemed confident in his player, calling him a “valued member of the squad”.

“He’s not injured, he’s training. He’s just got to keep training well and training hard.

“He’s a valued member of the squad. I know him better than anybody, I know what he’s capable of, so I’d love to see him back in a Newcastle shirt.”

Fraser will be forced to watch the Carabao Cup final from home this weekend and is unlikely to play any part in Newcastle’s top four push in the remaining games of the season.

A Summer exit seems all but confirmed with Fraser training with the youth teams, which will mean a sad end to a short career in Newcastle for the 28-year old.
