Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood has given his thoughts on Leeds United appointing Javi Garcia, claiming it could be more challenging than he has ‘been used to’.
The Whites sacked Jess Marsch only two weeks ago and had been linked with a variety of possible replacements for the American. Steven Gerrard had been heavily linked to take the reigns, however it was former Watford manager, Javi Garcia that got the seal of approval.
The Spaniard was in charge from January 2018 to September 2019, and took the Hornets to their first cup final in 35 years. However, after siting bottom with only one point in 2019 he was relieved of his duties and took over at La Liga giants, Valencia.

Sherwood, who most notably managed in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur, claimed that this previous experience at Watford could help Garcia be a success.
He said: “He’s done a good job, he knows the Premier League. Anyone who lasts that long at Watford is obviously a decent enough manager,”
“He kept them in the Premier League against the odds, took them to a cup final. So I think he’s a good fit. I really do, but only time will tell.”
On the other hand, the former Spurs and QPR manager was concerned by the size of the job that Garcia has on his hands, questioning if it could be more than the Spaniard is ‘used to’.
Sherwood said: ““It’s a huge football club. It’s a lot bigger than what he’s been used to previously. And he’ll soon find that out. But hopefully he can get them playing in the right way, on the front foot and use that huge, fantastic fanbase up there of Leeds as the 12th man.”
