After Graham Potter’s poor start at Chelsea many fans are calling for his sacking but the termination of the Brit’s contract could cost the club over £50m.
The former Brighton manager began his reign in London back in September last year, after his impressive spell with the Seagulls. However, life at Chelsea has not been easy for Potter as the Blues sit in 10th place in the Premier League and fans have started to turn on their new boss.
Criticism comes after Todd Boehly spent over £500m in his first two transfer windows at the club, breaking the Premier League’s record transfer fee. Enzo Fernandez cost Chelsea around £103m, which told fans how seriously Boehly is taking this project.
The last few results have increased the pressure on the Brit hugely, especially last weekend’s defeat to bottom of the league Southampton. Chelsea have been linked with numerous replacements for Potter, who has been in charge for six months, with Mauricio Pochettino reportedly rejecting the chance to take over.

The Chelsea manager signed a huge contract on his arrival, with the exact value being unknown. The 47-year-old signed a five-year deal that is set to expire in summer 2027 and is estimated to be worth between £12m per annum, according to reports.
This means that if Boehly were to sack their struggling manager, it would cost the club around £50m and Potter’s backroom staff would also need compensation. Adding this to the huge transfer spend that has already occurred could be a huge financial hit for the two time Champions League winners.
