He proved that was no fluke on his next start when a respectable fifth of six, beaten four lengths, to Alfadil in the Scottish Triumph Hurdle at Musselburgh where he may have fared even better had he not hung left throughout the race on the right-handed track. He should be happier back down in grade to a Class 4 contest and will appreciate the return to a left-handed track. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

IMPERIUM
Older progeny of the sire Frankel are usually worth opposing on the Flat, with those aged six or older landing just 16 of their 235 starts (6.8% strike-rate) for a loss of £127.61 to a £1 level stake at SP (the expected number of winners, based on their odds, was 23.49). IMPERIUM has failed to score since landing a small race over course and distance last January and training duo Harry and Roger Charlton reach for the blinkers in a bid to get their seven-year-old gelding to bounce back to form. Their runners have failed to improve in recent times when first-time blinkers have been applied, with only one of their last 36 qualifiers scoring (Keeper, the 4-11 favourite for a Brighton handicap in June 2021). Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters prefer to back Jane Chapple-Hyam’s FIRST OFFICER who may improve now stepping back up in trip.
