In the LG Amsterdam Tournament, Obafemi Martins scored twice and David Pizarro added another as Inter Milan won 3-2 against Porto. Adrian and Marek Cech scored for the Portuguese side.
The two sides split the fixtures in Champions League Group H in 2005 – in the first fixture in Portugal, Porto won 2-0 thanks to Benni McCarthy and an own goal from Marco Materazzi.
In Milan, Inter got revenge with a late win at the San Siro. Hugo Almeida opened the scoring in the 16th minute and it took the hosts until the 75th minute to respond with a penalty from Julio Cruz.
Seven minutes later, Cruz had another and Inter held tight to secure three points on their way to topping the group.
Inter came out the better side in the round of 16 that previous season as well. In the first leg at the Estadio do Dragao, Obafemi scored first for the visitors but Ricardo Costa’s equaliser meant Porto travelled to Milan with confidence.
In the second leg, Inter cruised to a 3-1 victory thanks to a hat-trick from Adriano but were later thumped 5-0 on aggregate by local rivals AC Milan in the quarter-finals.
