It is that time of year once again where Neymar’s sister and the topic of her birthday dominate the discussions for football conspiracy theorists, and it would seem that the Brazilian’s latest injury has yet again lined up perfectly.

Neymar’s sister Rafaella was pictured parading through the streets as Carnival season in Brazil gets underway, but as February draws to a close and March fast approaches, fans have been quick to point out a seemingly perpetual annual occurrence.

Although it would appear that Neymar is in fact set for a sizeable spell on the sidelines following a wince-inducing ankle injury in Ligue 1 over the weekend, eagle-eyed Twitter conspiracy theorists have once again noted that his sister’s birthday is fast approaching, and he is out injured at the beginning of March once more.

In years gone by, the mercurial 31-year-old has been pictured attending birthday celebrations around the 11th March (Rafaella’s birthday) while he recovers from various injuries.

Although it is unclear as to the severity of his current injury, he is expected to miss PSG’s crucial Champions League second leg against Bayern Munich with the Parisians 1-0 after the first tie.

He has been one of the most productive players in Europe once again this season with 18 goals and 17 assists across all competitions, with shades of his budding young self at Barcelona.

This latest setbacks marks the 19th injury or knock he has picked up since making the world-record switch to the French capital, with some of these only keeping him out for a week or so. Nevertheless, this alarming figure highlights his stuttering career so far in Paris, which has yet to reach the lofty projections most fans would have expected by now.
