In the latest news regarding his transfer, Napoli and Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has refused to rule out a move away from Italy in the summer, as Manchester United step up their interest in the forward.

Serie A top goalscorer Victor Osimhen has refused to rule out a move away from Napoli this summer, with a whole host of Europe’s top clubs vying for his signature.

Manchester United, who have long said to be interested in the Nigerian, are one of the favourites to secure the forward’s signature.

United seem to be doing a lot right at the moment, sitting in third place in the Premier League table, and with a possible takeover looming, all they seem to be missing is a top level out-and-out striker.

With Wout Weghorst’s loan deal coming to an end in the summer, and their only other senior striker being injury-prone Anthony Martial, a move for Osimhen certainly looks to be one that makes sense for the Red Devils.

Osimhen has been enjoying life in Italy, as his Napoli side currently lead the pack. The Gli Azzurri are 15 points clear at the top of the Serie A table and are in the last-16 of the Champions League after netting the most goals of any team in the group stage.

The Nigerian has been instrumental in Napoli’s impressive season, scoring 19 goals and assisting four times in 23 appearances.

Speaking to ESPN, Osimhen refused to rule out a move away from Naples in the summer.

“When you are doing so well, top clubs around the world are watching, mostly in the top five leagues, and to be able to attract interest from these top clubs shows that I am doing great and it gives me the motivation to do even more for myself and my team.

“But I am focused on Napoli right now and they have the final say. I just want to help my team to win matches and win trophies. At the end of the season, we will see what is going to happen, but that is not up to me. It is for the club to decide.”

Osimhen is his side’s top scorer, as well as the league top scorer, but he says that isn’t his priority.

“Being the highest goalscorer is actually not my main priority. The team comes first before my personal ambition.

“If I win it, that’s fine but what I want to do is try to win trophies with my team. As long as the team is winning, it doesn’t matter to me who gets the goals or whether I win top scorer or not.”
