A Newcastle United fan has offered to give his pet dog away ‘for a fiver’ on social media after the pooch chewed and ripped his tickets for the Carabao Cup final at Wembley next week.
Newcastle United fan Alan Carling was already mightily annoyed after seeing his side lose 2-0 to Liverpool on Saturday, as well as seeing Magpies stopper Nick Pope being sent off – which subsequently means he’ll miss Sunday’s trip to Wembley for the Carabao Cup final, but what the Toon fan came home to was even worse.
Alan’s tickets for the massive cup final arrived whilst he was at St. James’ Park, but the only person there to greet them was the family golden retriever – Rudy.
As you could imagine, Rudy took quite the interest in what came through the letter box that day. The puppy decided to chew the envelope in which contained Alan’s tickets for the Carabao Cup final.
So not only will Pope be missing out on the crunch tie at Wembley, heartbroken Alan also looks set to miss the fixture.
Alan’s Facebook Post
Alan posted an update on Facebook saying: “This is my dog Rudy. Rudy is a little b*stard of a pup and thinks letters through the post are an invasion of his home.
“After coming back from watching Newcastle lose at home for the first time this season against Liverpool, conceding two goals and having the keeper sent off in the first half.
“Rudy thought he would give me a laugh by eating the Wembley tickets that were posted whilst I was out. Dog for sale, £5 o.n.o.”
Probably not the comfort Alan was looking for, arriving home after seeing his side on the end of their first home league defeat of the season.
Fellow football fans responded in the comments, clearly aware of Alan’s heartbreak. Some even cited that the pooch may be an undercover Sunderland fan.
Marc Hamari said: “Your dog’s a Mackem.”
Lee Taylor also added: “Not saying the dog is innocent or anything, but could the postman be a Mackem?”
Whether Alan will be able to get replacement tickets remains to be seen, but as it stands – the Toon Army faithful will miss his side’s first trip to Wembley since 2000.
Not only will Newcastle be without Pope, but also second-choice goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. Dubravka spent the first-half of the season on loan with Manchester United, which leaves him cup-tied. This will likely see a sensational return for former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius, who looks set to start on Sunday.
