TalkSport pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has criticised Gabriel Martinelli for his ‘disrespectful’ celebration during Arsenal’s 4-2 win against Aston Villa.

The Brazilian sealed all three points for the Gunners with his last-minute goal into an open net, after Emiliano Martinez had gone up for a corner. It was the winger’s eighth goal of the season and ended his recent drought, and brought Arsenal their first win in three Premier League matches.

Agbonlahor played for Aston Villa from 2005-2018, scoring 76 goals in 341 matches which earned him three England caps. The former Villains player turned to punditry and has become a controversial figure on the popular TalkSport broadcast.

The 43-year-old had some strong words for the Arsenal player, as the winger celebrated before he rolled the ball into the back of an empty net. Agbonlahor felt it was ‘disrespectful’ towards the midlands side.

The former Villa captain said: “But there was part of the game I didn’t like. I didn’t like Martinelli for me, running through, empty net and he’s celebrating before he puts the ball in the back of the net.”

Martinelli’s form has dipped recently which Agbonlahor commented on, as he claimed the celebration showed even more arrogance, due to the aforementioned dip in form.

He said: “He’s been rubbish for a month and he’s scoring a tap-in and celebrating before he’s even scored. [It’s a] lack of respect for your teammates. I didn’t like it.”
