Trainer Gordon Elliott has given Cheltenham Festival punters a helping hand today by confirming the targets for two of his big Gigginstown House Stud horses – Conflated and Fury Road.
Conflated Will Be Aiming For Gold at the Cheltenham Festival
This season’s Savills Chase winner Conflated will head to the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday 17th March after his trainer Gordon Elliott ruled out a possible re-route to the Ryanair Chase – run a day earlier.
Conflated is @ 11/1 with BetUK for the Gold Cup and was last seen winning the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas – beating Kemboy by 5 lengths and will be looking to join the likes of Minella Indo, Synchronised and Lord Windermere as Savills Chase winners that followed up in the Gold Cup that same season.
The 2022 Gold Cup winner, A Plus Tard, was also a short-head runner-up in the Savills Chase.
The 9 year-old bypassed the Dublin Racing Festival and Elliott has now confirmed that his former Irish Gold Cup winner Conflated will head straight to the Cheltenham Festival.
Gordon Elliott’s only previous Cheltenham Gold Cup winner was Don Cossack in 2016.
Elliott told the Racing Post “Nothing changes with Conflated. I know Allaho is out of the Ryanair now but Conflated is going for the Gold Cup. He deserves to take his chance in it after what he did at Leopardstown over Christmas.
“He’s an Irish Gold Cup winner as well. He’s a very, very good horse on his day and I can see him running a big race in the big one at Cheltenham. That’s where he will be going.”

Fury Road To Take Flight In Ryanair Chase
Elliott also confirmed that another of his Gigginstown House Stud-owned horses – Fury Road – will be aimed at the Ryanair Chase, which will be run on Thursday 16th March.
With the two-time Ryanair Chase winner Allaho missing the race this has opened up this Grade One Chase, with many connections now feeling they’ve got a much better chance with the Mullins horse not running.
Fury Road will be hoping to give Elliott his first win in the Ryanair Chase, but being owned by Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary the horse be an apt winner of the race he’s backed since it was first run in 2005.
O’Leary’s sole Ryanair Chase win (to date) came in 2018 with Balko Des Flos.
The 9 year-old was last in action when running third in the Irish Gold Cup behind the current Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite Galopin Des Champs, while prior to that Fury Road was third in the Savills Chase to his stablemate Conflated.
The drop back in trip is expected to suit Fury Road, who has Cheltenham odds @ 5/1 with BetUK to win the Ryanair Chase.
Elliott told the Racing Post “Fury Road runs in the Ryanair and I think he’s got a great chance. He’s a proper Grade 1 horse with really solid form and the race should suit him. He wasn’t beaten by far in the Albert Bartlett a few years ago and he’ll head back to Cheltenham with really solid claims. I was delighted with his run at Leopardstown and he’s put together three really good runs back-to-back now.”
