Southampton have opened negotiations with former Leeds manager Jesse Marsch, as the American looks for an immediate return to Premier League management.

Leeds sacked their former manager on February 6th after the club found themselves in the relegation zone, with a loss to Nottingham Forest being enough for the 42-year-old to be relieved of his duties. Leeds are still yet to find a replacement which has left Michael Skubala to over see proceedings for the time being.

Southampton have also recently sacked their manager, as Nathan Jones was released following a 2-1 loss to Wolves. The Saints take up bottom place of the Premier League and have been linked with a variety of managerial replacements including, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and now according to reports, Jesse Marsch.

The American had a difficult time at Leeds, with it ultimately coming to a rather sour end. Managing 32 matches in the league, winning only eight of them. However he made key signings for The Whites, Tyler Adams and Wilfried Gnonto being two of the most noteworthy.

With UK betting sites pricing Marsch as 1/4 to take over at Southampton, the Saints fans will be hoping for more success than Leeds supporters had. Reports say that if talks go smoothly, then the American will take charge in time for Southampton’s next league match against Chelsea.
