Everton have seen their chances of relegation rise, as UK betting sites price them at 5/7 following their 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool were dominant throughout the first-half and opened the scoring through Mohammed Salah, who ended his five game goal drought with a simple tap-in. Everton struggled to create many chances but James Tarkowski came close as he saw his header strike the post.

The second-half followed the same path as the first, as Cody Gakpo scored his first goal for the Reds and doubled their lead. Everton failed to trouble Alisson with anything worthwhile and Sean Dyche’s men keep their place in the bottom three.

Can Sean Dyche keep the Toffee’s up?

The former Burnley manager was appointed after Everton sacked Frank Lampard following a run of poor results. The Toffees won three out of 19 Premier League matches, with the 2-0 defeat to Everton being the final nail in the coffin.

After Dyche managed his new side to a 1-0 win over Arsenal, many fans sensed that their relegation battle had a new lease of life. However, today’s result against Liverpool highlighted the work that still needs to be done if Everton want to stay up this season.

Everton will be hoping to move out of the bottom three when they welcome fellow relegation contender, Leeds to Goodison Park on Saturday. Both sides are coming off of 2-0 losses with Leeds losing to Man United on Sunday, meaning three points this Saturday would be vital.
