Ibrahima Konate is the latest Liverpool player to be ruled out with injury, sustaining hamstring damage in the FA Cup loss against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 23-year-old has cemented himself as a key member of the Liverpool defence this season.

He has only featured 10 times for the Reds this term due to injury setbacks and his World Cup involvement, but has impressed on every occasion he’s taken to the field.

Konate has started Liverpool’s last six games in all competitions, but that run looks to have come to an end.

The centre-back now faces up to three weeks on the sidelines, after picking up a hamstring injury against Brighton at the weekend.

He is likely to miss Liverpool’s next three Premier League matches, including a Merseyside derby at Anfield in 12 days time.

Konate may well miss the Reds’ Champions League Round of 16 first-leg tie at home to Real Madrid, too.

This latest injury comes as a real blow to Jurgen Klopp, who is already without Virgil van Dijk through injury. The Dutchman is still a couple of weeks away from returning to Liverpool training.

His injury may have implications for Nat Phillips, as well. The Englishman was rumoured to make a deadline-day move to Galatasaray, but may now be forced to stay put and deputise for Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Konate joins Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, van Dijk, Arthur and Luis Diaz on the club’s injury list.

Liverpool find themselves in 9th place in the Premier League table, with 19 games to go.

The Reds are priced at 9/4 to finish in the top four on Premier League betting sites.
