One of the longest ongoing sagas of the transfer window so far is that of Enzo Fernandez, as the Benfica star remains one of Europe’s hottest properties with the transfer window coming to a close.

Benfica have finally set a price for Enzo Fernandez amid interest from Chelsea, with the Portuguese club saying they will accept no less than £106 million for their breakthrough star.

Fernandez started gaining attention in the market after a phenomenal World Cup with Argentina, as the 22-year old not only won the tournament but also earned himself the Best Young Player at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Chelsea have been by far the most active club in the January window as Todd Boehly tries to dig his team out of a hole that has them sat in an uncharacteristic 10th place in the Premier League this season and Benfica have said that if the London side want to sign their superstar midfielder this year that they’ll have to fork out yet again.

Personal terms are said to not be an issue and Chelsea are set to push for a €120m deal before the transfer window draws to a close in just under 48 hours.

Having already spent £220 million this month, Chelsea are still actively pursuing signings as the window draws to a close and despite interest in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, Fernandez remains a priority target for Graham Potter.

With the additions of Mykhailo Mudryk,Benoît Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Malo Gusto, Andrey Santos and Joao Felix amongst others already in this window, Boehly is making a clear statement to the rest of the league as Chelsea desperately try to claw their way back up the table.

Chelsea’s next game comes against Fulham on Friday in a North London derby that could display plenty of new talents at Stamford Bridge.
