24 hours after sacking Frank Lampard, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has put the club up for sale. The club will set any potential buyers back £500million.
Moshiri would like to recoup the money he has invested in the new stadium being built at Bramley-Moore Dock. It is understood that Deloitte has been instructed to handle the sale of the club, who are in the Premier League relegation zone.
The news will be welcomed by the Everton fans who have called for the club to be sold. Moshiri has been owner of the club for almost seven-years.
The decision to sell the club may have a negative effect on their hunt for a new manager. Everton are searching for a new manager after sacking Lampard, and there are several names in with a shout.
It will be a tough job for whoever becomes their manager as they’re priced at 11/4 to be relegated with many UK bookies.
Moshiri Spending Big With Everton
Moshiri has put his money in his pockets during his time as Everton owner. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out well for Moshiri who is looking to recoup some of his money.
💰 Everton's spending compared to the "big six" since Moshiri's takeover
◼️ Chelsea – £1.397bn
◼️ Man United – 1.069bn
◼️ Man City – £1.048bn
◼️ Arsenal – £737.2m
◼️ Liverpool – £735.6m

◼️ Tottenham – £633.6m pic.twitter.com/NQvPRun4vr— Football Daily (@footballdaily) January 23, 2023
They’ve spent just less than Liverpool and Arsenal since Moshiri has been owner of the club. £716.6million has been spent on more than 50 players in the Moshiri era, with just over £400million recouped in sales.
The players they’ve signed haven’t lived up to the billing and have been shipped out quickly after signing. The likes of James Rodriguez and Allan are two big names that spring to mind in recent years that have been signed but failed.
Whoever takes the ownership of Everton has a big task to rebuild the relationship with the fans.
