Speaking to the media ahead of their game against Crystal Palace. Ten Hag has been full of praise for Alejandro Garnacho. The winger has caught the eyes of the fans, and it turns out his manager is equally impressed.

The talk at the back end of last season was all about the young Argentine in the United youth set-up. His fast feet and trickery, combined with his clever attacking play, had all United fans excited to see him at Old Trafford.

After making one substitute appearance last season, Garnacho has become a regular in this season’s match day squad.

He made his presence known in Europa League games with the Red Devils. Garnacho got his first senior goal against Real Sociedad in November. Shortly after he got his first Premier League goal against Fulham.

To cap off what’s been a great start to his senior career, Garnacho made an impact in the recent Manchester derby. After coming on as a sub, he set up the winning goal for Rashford. The assist made him the youngest player to get an assist in a Manchester derby in the Premier League.

What Has Ten Hag Said About Garnacho?

Speaking after Garnacho made a big impact against arch rivals Man City, Ten Hag urged the player to keep improving:

“He has a skill that I don’t see many players in the Premier League having — he beats players one on one.

“He’s learnt in the last months about how to play in a team, how to live, how to do the right things in the week, how to have the right attitude on the training ground and you see how he’s acting as a team player and with his individual skills that can make the difference.

“Also for him it’s to keep going in the process. It’s not done. There is a lot to come.

“There is a lot of room for improvement with him but he can help, he can contribute on the highest level already and I’m really happy.

“It’s a bonus for us as a club that you bring in young players and they can come not only into the squad but the team and I think that is a part of our project that has to contribute to our success.”

It seems as though the concerns Ten Hag had during pre-season about Garnacho’s attitude are now long gone.

We’ll see if Garnacho did enough as a substitute against City to start against Crystal Palace tonight.
