Venetia Williams has won this two-mile handicap chase three times in the past ten years and she has another prime candidate in the shape of GALOP DE CHASSE. The seven-year-old could never get in a meaningful blow behind front-runner Fast Buck at Lingfield last time but that confirmed his liking for deep ground, as did November’s runner-up effort to Gunsight Ridge at Aintree where he was ridden with more restraint than ideal on his reappearance. Regular rider Charlie Deutsch is back on board, and it will be disappointing if he isn’t in the first two. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

SMARTY WILD is consistent, especially in small fields and on right-handed tracks, and looks the ideal buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. His record right-handed after a recent run (1-28 days ago) stands at 1111443132F (5-11) for a profit of £24.65 to a £1 level stake at SP and he was a good 20-1 third of 14 over course and distance just 18 days ago. He doesn’t always find as much as looks likely for pressure but, with a clear round, should be in the first two or three.

KEMPTON 2.05
PAINT THE DREAM won well at Newbury last time but he’s three from three over fences at the Berkshire venue and is far form certain to replicate that effort on a sharp right-handed track. His record this way round reads 74321U253 (1-9), with the win almost four years ago when favourite for a weak handicap hurdle at Perth (he was rated just 120 and is now rated 40lb higher). Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
