PONTEFRACT 2.37

SYDNEY MEWS (system – New Bay handicappers, top 3 finish last time out)

I operate a large number of systems based on the sire New Bay and SYDNEY MEWS is a qualifier on no less than six of them today. Backing the sire’s handicappers who simply finished in the top three last time out would have found 57 winners from 159 runners (35.9% strike-rate) for a profit of £112.49 to a £1 level stake at SP. She wasn’t beaten far over 1m at Kempton on her handicap debut last time and is bred to appreciate today’s stiffer test of stamina.

WOLVERHAMPTON 8.00

TALENTED (system – Paul Mulrennan, Wolverhampton)

Paul Mulrennan has been a rare visitor to Wolverhampton in recent years but his 109 mounts since the beginning of 2019 have produced 18 winners (16.5%) for a profit of £85.58 to a £1 level stake at SP. In handicaps only, his figures in the same period are 17 from 84 (20.2%) for a profit of £106.83. TALENTED, fitted with a tongue-tie for her handicap debut, looks very interesting for the in-form Nigel Tinkler yard.

WOLVERHAMPTON 8.30

SECRET TRYST (system – William Knight, handicap debut)

Since racing resumed after lockdown one in June 2020, William Knight is nine from 50 with his handicap debutants for a profit of £79.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. Almost 50% of the qualifiers finished in the first four and an each-way bet on SECRET TYRST could pay dividends. Her sire, Brazen Beau, gets plenty of winners on the all-weather, and she showed useful form here and at Chelmsford on her first two starts. She finished last of six at Newcastle on her latest outtng but a small field on a straight track was no help to this often-keen sort and she’ll be happier in this big-field handicap.
