Andy Newton gives you his quickfire 1-2-3 Curragh horse racing best bets for the ITV races at the Irish track on Sunday.
1:50 – Moyglare ”Jewels” Blandford Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies & Mares) (3yo+) 1m2f ITV
1. LA PETITE COCO 2. Above The Curve 3. Insinuendo
LA PETITE COCO @ 13/8 with 888 Sport was a fair third in the Yorkshire Oaks last time out and that’s the best form on show. This Paddy Twomey-trained 4 year-old took this race 12 months ago too and was only beaten 2 3/4 lengths in that York Group One, while prior to that won four on the bounce, including two over this course and distance. The consistent Insinuendo is also a course winner to respect, while the powerful Aidan O’Brien camp have four entered but Ryan Moore has picked their Above The Curve so this looks significant.
2:25 – Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Flying Five Stakes (Group 1) (3yo+) 5f ITV
1. HIGHFIELD PRINCESS 2. Ladies Church 3. Mooneista
HIGHFIELD PRINCESS @ 7/4 with 888 Sport sets the standard here after her top win in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York last time out. Before that success she’d beaten Minzaal in France in the Maurice de Gheest and the form of that has been franked with the runner-up romping away with last week’s Sprint Cup at Haydock. CD’s winners Mooneista and Ladies Church look to have fair claims of hitting the frame in a race that revolves around the UK Quinn-trained runner.
3:00 – Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies) (2yo) 7f ITV
1. MEDITATE 2. Tahiyra 3. Thornbrook
MEDITATE @ 5/6 with 888 Sport can add to the good recent record in this race of the Aidan O’Brien yard – they’ve won the prize three times since 2015. This exciting filly is also undefeated after four opening wins that included the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot back in June, while last time stepped up to 7f in the Debutante Stakes here. Of the rest, the Weld runner Tahiyra was a good winner on debut at Galway and should have more to come, while Thornback was only a length off Meditate last time.

3:35 – Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes (Group 1) (Colts & Fillies) (2yo) 7f ITV
1. AESOP’S FABLES 2. Marbaan 3. Hans Anderson
AESOP’S FABLES @ 8/11 with 888 Sport could easily follow in the hoof prints of other top Aidan O’Brien runners to have landed this race – Churchill and Gleneagles. He looks another exciting colt for the Ballydoyle bandwagon and heads here 2-from-2 after winning the G2 Futurity Stakes last time at this track. He had Hans Anderson 2 1/4 lengths back that day and more of the same is on the cards, with the sole UK raider Marbaan, for Charlie Fellowes and has improved a load this term, next best.
4:10 – Comer Group International Irish St. Leger (Group 1) (3yo+) 1m6f ITV
1. KYPRIOS 2. Hamish 3. Raise You
KYPRIOS @ 4/7 with 888 Sport can crown a top day for trainer Aidan O’Brien and take the Irish St Leger. This 4 year-old has mopped-up the leading cup races this season by landing the Ascot Gold Cup at the royal meeting in June and won a thriller of a Goodwood Cup last time – seeing off Stradivarius and Trueshan, who is out in Sunday’s Doncaster Cup. He is rated 6lbs higher than Hamish, who has place claims for the William Haggas yard, while the CD winner, Raise You has to enter the picture after taking the Irish St Leger Trial here last month by 2 lengths.
