Andrew fired in a pair of 8-1 winners earlier this week and struck again with the well-backed IMPERIUM (2-1) on Wednesday. Follow his tips on horse racing betting sites throughout the busy festive season and all year round. He has four more selections across three races on Thursday December 2nd:

CLONMEL 1.30

BOTHAR DUBH (system – sire Malinas, 2m4f+, good to soft or softer going)

Progeny of Malinas have a preference for good to soft or softer going and they also seem best over trips of 2m4f or further. Combining these two factors into a system would have given us 62 winners from 344 bets (18% strike-rate) for a profit of £64.29 to a £1 level stake at SP. BOTHAR DUBH could only finish a 14-1 fifth of nine over course and distance last time but that was his second run back after a near-12-month absence and it was probably still needed. This dual course winner has been well found in the overnight betting and looks set to run a big race.

WINCANTON 2.15

CUBAN PETE (system – Venetia Williams, handicap chasers in December, recent run)

Regular readers will recall the ‘Venetia Williams-trained handicap chasers in November’ system but she also does well in December, especially with those who have had a recent outing (within the last four weeks). She’s 87 from 374 during the current century (23.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £66.00 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 63.84). CUBAN PETE was only seventh at Ludlow on his return to action last month but was reportedly ‘never travelling’ after a bad blunder at the second fence. He won second time out last season and is worth another chance.

MARKET RASEN 2.52

MALINAS ISLAND & THE FECKENHAM FOX (system – sire Malinas, 2m4f+, good to soft or softer going)

Both MALINAS ISLAND and THE FECKENHAM FOX qualify on the same breeding angle as Bothar Dubh (see 1.30 Clonmel) and while the former will be difficult to beat judged on last week’s Lingfield win, he’s priced accordingly (around 4-5). He’ll probably follow up and I certainly wouldn’t put you off including him in multiples but The Feckenham Fox was trading at around 40-1 at the time of writing and could be the each-way angle or the one for the forecast. He shaped well after a ten-month break when a 50-1 seventh of 15 at Chepstow last time where the two-mile trip on good ground would have been an insufficient test of stamina.
