All the Latest Horse Racing Results Today

In a sport like horse racing, it’s important that you keep tabs and an eye on everything that happens at the track. While the venues where races take place change on a daily basis, results in horse racing remain the same. It’s all about winners and losers at racecourses up and down the UK, Ireland and beyond.

Each and every single one of the best horse racing betting sites out there pay very close attention to race results. Why, we hear you ask? Horse racing results today are what betting traders base the fixed odds markets on. Past results in horse racing thus shape and influence the future.

Other factors like stable form and horse racing news play their part too, of course but results matter. They can make or break a runner’s chances of tackling a higher level of competition. Eagle-eyed punters are always seeking horses that ran well in defeat, so it could pay to look beyond the winner in race results at any time.

Just like any sport, there are some huge horse racing events on in the British Isles and around the world. Let’s take a look at each of those in turn and highlight some important results in horse racing now.

Horse Racing Results UK & Beyond

Flat Racing Results

Flat horse racing results

Whether the races are run on dirt or turf, the Flat has the widest global appeal. That means there are horse racing results from stakes races pretty much every single day of the year somewhere. All-Weather Flat racing results help tide the winter months over in the UK and Ireland, while events overseas take centre stage.

Fans of British Flat turf horse racing can start paying attention to racing results yesterday and today towards the end of March. The season traditionally begins then at Doncaster and also ends there in early November. There is a packed programme of UK action on the level taking place during those seven-and-a-half months.

In amongst the big horse racing results UK punters should look out for, are the five Classics. The first of those three-year-old colts and/or fillies only races take place at the start of May with the 2000 Guineas and 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. Following on from that are other Classic trials en route to the Epsom Derby and Epsom Oaks in early June.

Royal Ascot then takes centre stage with race results coming thick and fast over the summer. There are three major Flat horse racing galas following on from that in the July Festival at Newmarket, Glorious Goodwood and the Ebor Festival at York. In the autumn, the St Leger at Doncaster completes the set of Classics alongside Irish Champions Weekend in the Emerald Isle during September.

Towards the end of the Flat season in the second half of October, the last set of really significant results in horse racing come from British Champions Day at Ascot. The autumn also has a number of big races for two-year-olds, who will hopefully train on and be horses to follow for next year.

National Hunt Racing Results

From October to April, meanwhile, the best jumps racehorses come out to play over hurdles and fences. There is plenty of National Hunt horse racing on over the summer, but the core season in the UK remains from autumn through until spring. Chepstow is the traditional curtain-raiser on this, but all eyes are on two events in particular.

One thing all jumps horse racing results UK can potentially influence is the Cheltenham betting for that season’s Festival. Held in the middle of March over four days, this is the best National Hunt meeting of them all. Racehorses have their entire campaigns geared around Cheltenham with prize money and historic races part of the extravaganza.

There are other Cheltenham results to consider along the way to the Festival. Cards in November, December and twice in January, on New Year’s Day and Festival Trials Day later in the month, can all throw up race results to follow. There are other big races in their own right along the way at other tracks too.

When the Betfair Chase at Haydock Park rolls around in mid-November, you know that National Hunt racing results are getting serious. Through the Winter Carnival at Newbury and Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown Park, it soon becomes Christmas where horse racing results include the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park.

On the other side of Cheltenham, there is the world’s most famous steeplechase, the Grand National at Aintree in April. Results in horse racing don’t come any bigger than this as 40 horses tackle the four-and-a-quarter-mile marathon outside Liverpool. The jumps season never disappoints.

International Horse Racing Results

Lest we forget, beyond the British Isles are even more fabulous race results with global significance. Across the pond in America, the US horse racing season is geared around two events: the Kentucky Derby in May and Breeders Cup in November. While Churchill Downs always hosts the race for the roses, the World Championships move venues every year.

Closer to home, Europe’s richest horse race, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe lights up Paris at Longchamp on the first Sunday in October. The entire French horse racing calendar is geared around getting the best horses from the British Isles, continental Europe and beyond to the Arc.

The Middle East has grown its presence with valuable horse races like the Saudi Cup and Dubai World Cup night in the UAE. Even further afield, horses from all over the globe head Down Under for the Melbourne Cup in Australia on the first Tuesday in November. Keep across all of these international horse racing results today here on SportsLens.
