England midfielder and 19-year-old Jude Bellingham has joined an elite list of the World Cup’s youngest scorers in history after scoring against Iran.
Bellingham became the 12th youngest scorer at a World Cup in history, nodding Luke Shaw’s cross home in exquisite fashion to give England a 1-0 lead against Iran.
The Birmingham City Academy graduate joined German side Borussia Dortmund in July 2020 for a £20.5m fee and has since become one of Europe’s most sought after players, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid fighting for his signature.
The header was Bellingham’s first international goal for the Three Lions, joining Michael Owen as the only teenagers to score for England at a World Cup. He also became the first player born after 2000 to score in the competition.

Bukayo Saka also became the fourth youngest goalscorer for England at the World Cup, at 21 years and 88 days old – bagging two in the 6-2 rout of Iran.
England are next up against the USA on Friday evening at 7pm GMT with the Americans opening their account against Wales on Monday evening.
