1:50 – Clipper EBF Marygate Fillies’ Stakes (Listed) (IRE Incentive Race) Cl1 (2yo) 5f ITV4
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 YORK ITV RACING TIPS: It was hard to not be impressed with the way Persian Dreamer won at Newmarket on debut – scooting away to land the spoils by 3 1/4 lengths. This Amo Racing filly has had a nice month break to recover from that effort but having travelled well that day with plenty of speed looks the clear one to beat here, albeit upped in grade. The Ryan Moore-ridden Dorothy Lawrence was second to Persian Dreamer that day and can go well again too, while horses from stall 9 (7 of the last 17) had a strangely good record in the race and so Beenham might be worth a cover too.

2:25 – Oaks Farm Stables Fillies’ Stakes (Reg’ As The Michael Seely Memorial Fillies’ Stakes) (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo) 1m ITV4
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 YORK ITV RACING TIPS: Some promising fillies on show here and one of those is the Godolphin 3 year-old Silver Lady. This well-bred Sea The Stars horse hit the ground running on debut with a facile 3 3/4 length win at Newmarket and on that evidence looks an above average filly. She may want further in time, but for now showed enough pace and staying power over a mile last time to suggest she’s worth sticking with here. The Stoute runner Stormy Sea, with Ryan Moore riding, and recent Ascot scorer Queen For You are other useful-looking fillies that can get involved.

SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 YORK ITV RACING TIPS: The Andrew Balding runner Nobel had a top start to his career – winning at Kempton and Epsom, but was clearly not right at Newmarket at the backend of last season – trailing in last of 8. He ran too free that day, while the soft ground might not have been ideal. He’s since had a wind op and back on a better surface is worth giving another chance to with Oisin Murphy taking over in the saddle. CD winner Eeetee and Stay Well with Ryan Moore an interesting jockey booking, can do best of the rest.

3:35 – Boodles Yorkshire Cup Stakes (Group 2) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m6f ITV4
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 YORK ITV RACING TIPS: No Stradivarius this year, with the prolific winner of the race now retired. This gives the race a bit more of an open feel, but still looks a contest of two halves with the likely winner on the official ratings set to come from Quickthorn, Broome, Eldar Eldarov and Siskany. Of course, last year’s St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov is respected back to 1m6f after not staying 2m last time at Ascot, while Broome is the top-rated in the field, trainer Aidan O’Brien has never won this race.
So, this leaves Siskany for Godolphin, who was only a neck behind Broome last time at Meydan in the Dubai Gold Cup, and the Hughie Morrison-trained Quickthorn. Yes, this 6 year-old was 6th in that already mentioned Meydan race, so has ground to make up. However, it was his first run for 5 months and the return to the grass will help. Add in he’s a course winner at York and also gets a handy 5lbs from Eldar and 3lbs from Broome this time, then he can make a bold bid from the front and prove hard to peg back.
