Xabi Alonso Favourite In Exclusive Odds

SportsLens Head of News Lee Astley, said: “Pressure is growing on Mauricio Pochettino after a poor start to the season for Chelsea with another defeat at the weekend. He’s only been in the job for three months and there is already talks of him leaving, after just one league win so far this season.

“Xabi Alonso is the current favourite at 7/2 to take over from Pochettino. He has impressed during his first big job in football. The Spaniard took over at Bayer Leverkusen when they were in the Bundesliga relegation zone last season and guided the side to the semi-finals of the Europa League and sixth place in the league.

“The former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder was linked to Spurs in the summer when they were hunting for a new manager, and it would be no surprise to see Chelsea go for him if they part ways with Pochettino.

“Zinedine Zidane is 10/1 to be the next manager at Stamford Bridge and is one of the biggest names currently without a job. He was most recently at Real Madrid in his second spell at the club. His first spell saw him win three Champions League titles in a row from 2015-2018 and it is possible that he will be high on the list if Chelsea decide to sack Poch.

“Former coaches Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel are priced up at 22/1 and 80/1 respectively as firm outsiders, but Chelsea have appointed ex-managers in the past and could turn to either of these two again if the opportunity arises.”
