Wolves 1-0 Sheffield United Report: Sarabia Wins It For Wanderers

Sheffield United travelled to Molineux looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 5-0 defeat to Brighton, and Chris Wilder made four changes following that loss.

Meanwhile the hosts were hoping to build on a huge win away at Tottenham Hotspur last time out, and had every chance of doing so against a Blades side low in confidence.

Wolves started brightly, and their early work paid off on the half-hour mark when Pablo Sarabia headed in a cross from Rayan Ait-Nouri. The goal had been coming for Gary O’Neil’s side, and they led 1-0 at the break.

However, the visitors fought back well in the second-half, and were much improved from last week and in the opening 45 minutes. But, despite their efforts and a few attacking substitutions they could not find the back of the net.

The game finished 1-0 to Wolves, lifting up to eighth in the Premier League table, boosting their hopes of appearing in a European competition next season.

Sheffield United though, that defeat leaves them eight points adrift from safety with a few hard fixtures to follow. They play both Arsenal and Liverpool in March before Liverpool and Chelsea at the start of April.

Things aren’t looking good for the Blades with relegation looking likely and tensions were boiling over on the pitch too. Teammates Vinicius Souza and Jack Robinson had to be separated by their own players after squaring up to each other in what appeared a heated exchange. The two clearly didn’t agree on something.
