Wolves vs Chelsea Preview & Prediction

Despite their somewhat unconvincing victory over Sheffield United, Chelsea managed to come from behind and secure a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, defeating Newcastle in a thrilling penalty shootout on Tuesday night.

It puts a silver line in their season up to now, which, despite spending big, has been underwhelming once again. The Blues have lost three of their last five Premier League games, which sees them sit 10th in the table.

Their opponents, Wolves, are enduring a bit of a rut themselves. Across their last five matches, Gary O’Neil’s side have garnered just four points from a possible 15, culminating in the recent 3-0 defeat to West Ham.

However, at home, they’ve been commendable and are now unbeaten in six at the Molineux. They have a safe 10-point cushion above the relegation zone and are only three points behind Chelsea.

Wolves could achieve back-to-back wins over Chelsea for the first time since 1975, after winning their last encounter 1-0 back in April.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Chelsea

Wolves vs Chelsea Betting Tips

  • Wolves double chance @ 17/20
  • Rayan Ait-Nouri to be carded @ 14/5
  • Combined Bet Builder Odds @ 5/1

Wolves vs Chelsea Betting Tip 1: Wolves double chance @ 17/20

The hosts have showcased impressive performances at the Molineux this season, particularly against the big boys. They’ve taken points away from Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Manchester City on their home turf.

It’s hard to envision Chelsea going on a consistent run right now, so backing Wolves to win or draw at a price just below evens seems like value worth backing. Besides, Chelsea are without a win in their last three visits here, managing just one point.

Wolves vs Chelsea Betting Tip 2: Rayan Ait-Nouri to be carded @ 14/5

It’s that time of the season where we see which players are one yellow card away from a suspension that would see them miss their Boxing Day fixture, giving them an extra day off across the hectic festive period.

In this particular fixture, there are four players that are one yellow card away, including Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, and Hwang Hee-Chan. However, the one that we’re choosing to back is Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

The Algerian will be up against Sterling, who has drawn 13 yellow cards from opposition players this season. No player has drawn more.
