What Does Cheltenham Non-Runner, No Bet Mean?

Non runner, no bet means that if you place at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival ante-post and that horse either doesn’t run or runs in another Festival race – William Hill will refund your stake.

Normal horse racing ante-post rules state that if you bet on a horse and it doesn’t run it’s classed as a losing bet with the bookmakers keeping your money.

Therefore, the Cheltenham non-runner, no bet offer from William Hill will give Festival punters a safety net when betting on the biggest meeting of the year.

Plus, the Festival has been famous in recent years for trainers leaving it late to declare which races certain horses will run in. With many horses having multiple entries.

Non runner, no bet takes the guess work out of this with the peace of mind knowing that should a horse not run the stake will be refunded. Plus, also covers punters in case of any injuries leading up to the Festival.

This includes punters who might want to bet on last year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs, who is all set to defend his title on Friday 15th March 2024. But should he not make the race, William Hill backers will get refunded (if they’ve bet on him from 1st Jan).
