The Premier League action moves into ‘week 6’ this weekend, but many eagle-eyed football fans have noticed there is NO Saturday lunchtime game. Why is this, we hear you ask?
Why Is There No Saturday Lunchtime Premier League Game At 12:30pm This Weekend?
The Saturday 12:30pm Premier League lunchtime fixture often marks the start of that week’s schedule of games – however, as we hot-foot into ‘week 6’ of the English top-flight this regular offering is non-existent.
Instead, the 10 Premier League fixtures this week are split evenly over Saturday and Sunday – with 5 matches on each day – and the first of those games being a trio of 3pm kick-offs.
Manchester City vs Nottm Forest is one of the 3pm Saturday games to get us going, but just why is there no regular 12:30pm match this week?

European Football Was Back In Midweek
The main reason there is no Saturday 12:30pm match this weekend is the return of the Champions League, Europa League and Europa League Conference in midweek.
We had 8 Premier League sides (Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Brighton, West Ham and Aston Villa) in European action over Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – meaning this bunch of teams can’t play in the early lunchtime game.
This is down to a new rule change this season, which stated teams involved in midweek European action can’t feature in the early Saturday Premier League game that following weekend. This is to allow the players, some who would have travelled abroad to play, more recovery time.
It’s also been reported there was, in fact, no 12:30pm Premier League slot picked by the broadcaster TNT, that usually airs this football match, anyway,
Burnley Host Man Utd at 8pm Instead
However, all is not lost for Premier League football fans – as to replace the 12:30pm game there is a rare 8pm match this Saturday as struggling Manchester United make the trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley.
United lost 4-3 to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in the Champions League, while the pressure continues to mount on the Red Devils and boss Erik ten Hag after also losing 3 of their opening five league matches.
They will face a Burnley side that have similar issues, having notched just 1 point from their first five matches and start the ‘week 6’ round of games second from bottom in the table.

This game will follow the regular teatime 5:30pm fixture, that is between Brentford and Everton this week, and be shown on TNT Sports.
