Jonbon The Red-Hot Tingle Creek Favourite

He won the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham on his seasonal return, with Tingle Creek 2022 winner Edwardstone the closest behind and they are set for a fascinating rematch this weekend.

Jonbon has an impressive record at Sandown, and he is unbeaten in two runs there. He won the Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at the Tingle Creek Meeting last year and then kept up his strong record when winning the Celebration Chase in April.
Henderson’s star two-mile chaser has won 11 of his 13 career starts only losing to stablemate Constitution Hill (Supreme Novice Hurdle 2022) and El Fabiolo (Arkle 2023) in his previous two visits to the Cheltenham Festival.
Four Rivals Set To Challenge Jonbon In Tingle Creek
With Jonbon the red-hot Tingle Creek favourite, he is set to take on four rivals after Thursday’s declarations were announced.
Rivals include Boothill, Edwardstone, Haddex Des Obeaux and Nuba Negra.
Boothill was beaten eight lengths when runner-up to Jonbon at this meeting last year in the Henry VIII, but Harry Fry’s classy eight-year-old has won both starts so far this season in handicap company. Arriving here in good form, Jonny Burke’s mount can be involved.
As for Edwardstone, he is yet to win a race since striking in last year’s Tingle Creek and is also unbeaten at the track. Alan King’s charge is considered the “best of the rest” according to the best betting sites and is the current second favourite.
Gary Moore’s Haddex Des Obeaux runs in his first Grade 1 contest and is seen for the first time since falling at the final fence when favourite in a handicap at Cheltenham’s October meeting.
Meanwhile Nuba Negra is the outsider of the field at a track he tends to run well at, and Jonjo O’Neill takes the reins for the first time with Harry Skelton jocked up at Aintree.
