Manchester United are set to appoint a new CEO following Richard Arnold’s resignation, but who is their new man Jean Claude-Blanc? Read on to find out about the former PSG marketing executive and Juventus Chairman.

Who is new Manchester United CEO Jean-Claude Blanc?

Jean-Claude Blanc is a former marketing executive of Paris Saint-Germain and former CEO and Chairman of Italian giants Juventus. He is set to replace Richard Arnold as CEO of Premier League giants Manchester United.

The Frenchman is one of the most experienced sports marketing executives in the world, having led a number of different organisations in recent times such as the Olympics, Winter Games, Tour de France, French Open and Davis Cup.

He became Chairman of Juventus in October 2009 and was credited with renegotiating all major business contracts and improving the financial health of the club following the Calciopoli scandal where the club was relegated to Serie B.

He modified Juventus’ new stadium project and closed the financing for the construction of it, which will be music to the ears of Manchester United fans due to the current deteriorating state of their home ground Old Trafford.

Blanc left his role as Chairman at the club in May 2010 but retained his role as General Manager and CEO. A year later, he released his executive powers to the Board of Juventus and resigned as CEO – leaving the club in October 2011.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is already making his mark on Manchester United with Blanc appointment

As the Red Devils brace for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to acquire a 25% stake in the club, the billionaire tycoon is already making his mark on the club with this appointment.

Ratcliffe’s multinational chemicals company INEOS already employ Blanc as a chief executive in their sport division, so this is likely someone he has already known for a while and trusts with the job.

Blanc is based in Monaco and oversees the company’s sporting portfolio, who own Ligue 1 side Nice and are a principal partner and third equal owner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.
