Endrick made his Brazil debut coming off the bench against Colombia in November. Read on as we take a deep dive into who Endrick is, who he plays for, and just how good he is.

How Old Is Endrick?

Born on 21 July 2006, in Taguatinga, a region of the Federal District in Brazil, Endrick is 17 years old. He made his Brazil debut against Colombia in November 2023; three months and 27 days after his 17th birthday. This makes him the fourth youngest player to feature for the Brazil national team and the youngest to do so in the 21st century.

Youngest Players to Play For Brazil

  1. Pele (1957) – 16 years, 8 months, 14 days
  2. Edu (1966) – 16 years, 9 months, 30 days
  3. Coutinho (1960) – 17 years, 28 days
  4. Endrick (2023) – 17 years, 3 months, 27 days
  5. Walter (1931) – 17 years, 4 months, 14 days
  6. Ronaldo (1994) – 17 years, 6 months, 2 days

What Position Does Endrick Play?

Endrick is a versatile left-footed forward who can operate either centrally or on the wing. He possesses remarkable speed, natural skill and flair, and demonstrates an impressive football IQ and maturity for a player his age.

He frequently leaves defenders visibly frustrated, pulling off audacious moves like flicking the ball over their heads and smoothly gliding past them, leaving them helpless. While his feet are quick, his mind operates even faster.

As well as the flair that typically comes with a young Brazilian winger, Endrick possesses a robust build and a low centre of gravity, allowing him to power through defenders of larger stature. His game awareness is exceptional, particularly evident in the penalty box.

How Good Is Endrick?

What’s truly remarkable is that Endrick, at 17-years-old, is already making a mark at senior club-level, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess for Palmeiras with 12 goals across all competitions this year.

While there is room for improvement in terms of  finishing, it’s worth noting that even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo took some time to establish a consistent goal-scoring rhythm early in their careers.

Endrick is still very young and raw and has a lot to learn, but he has the talent to make it to the very top of the game. Widely regarded as a future star, it goes without saying that Real Madrid’s eagerness to acquire the starlet highlights his exceptional talent.

Los Blancos are renowned for their adept scouting of Brazil, having brought the likes of Rodrygo from Santos and Vinicius Junior from Flamengo in recent years – both of which have proved to be successful acquisitions.

When Will Endrick Play For Real Madrid?

In December 2022, a €60 million deal was agreed for the young sensation to join Real Madrid. However, due to FIFA regulations, Endrick is not able to play for Los Blancos until after his 18th birthday.

FIFA have strict transfer regulations in place to prevent minors from experiencing potential abuse when playing abroad. This does not apply to European players, however, who are still able to transfer within the EU as minors.

This situation is not unprecedented for Real Madrid as demonstrated by the singing of Vinicius Junior, who was acquired from Flamengo 15 months prior to reaching the age of 18.

Endrick currently plays for Palmeiras – a Brazilian side based in Sao Paulo – and continues his development there. He must wait patiently until the summer of 2024 for his opportunity to don the famous Real Madrid colours.
