Being a goalkeeper in the Premier League is notoriously one of the hardest jobs in football, facing constant scrutiny every matchday. The league is full of outstanding shot-stoppers, but who has prevented the most amount of goals this season?

All stats from FotMob (Goals Prevented)

10. Jose Sa (-0.6)

The first name on this list is Wolves goalkeeper, Jose Sa. The Portugal international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best goalkeepers since signing in 2021. However, due to Wolves’ poor season and leaky defence he has not managed to prevent an impressive amount of goals.

9. Lukasz Fabianski (0.3)

West Ham have had a difficult campaign so far, sitting 17th in the table but the Polish keeper has put in some impressive performances. The 37-year-old averages 3.1 saves per match, however Hammers supporters will be disappointed with the amount of clean sheets their side have kept (4).

8. Aaron Ramsdale (0.4)

Surprisingly high up in this list is Arsenal keeper, Aaron Ramsdale. The 24-year-old has been a pivotal member in the Gunners’ title charge this season, keeping the most clean sheets in the league (12) alongside Newcastle’s Nick Pope.

The England international concedes 0.9 goals a match on average, a record that is only bettered by Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and again, Nick Pope.

7. David Raya (1.5)

Brentford are having an incredible campaign under Thomas Frank, as they sit 9th in the Premier League. One of their star performers has been the Spanish international David Raya.  As well ask preventing 1.5 goals a game, the 27-year-old has also kept eight clean sheets this season.

His consistent quality this season has attracted the attention of Europe’s elite and with stats like that, it is clear to see why.

6. Nick Pope (2.5)

Pope signed for Newcastle in summer last year and has helped the Magpies maintain their Top Four hopes this season. As previously mentioned, the 30-year-old is joint-first for clean sheets with Aaron Ramsdale and has also conceded the least amount of goals per 90 (0.7).

The Brit did miss the Toon’s first cup final in over sixty years due to suspension, as Eddie Howe’s side lost 2-0 to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup. But his dominant displays have cemented a place in the England squad.

5. Neto (2.9)

Bournemouth are in a relegation battle this season, after getting promoted from the Championship last year. The Cherries signed Neto in the summer to boost their survival hopes and the Brazilian has done just this, as he ranks third for saves per 90 (3.7).

4. Jordan Pickford (3.2)

England’s number one has proved himself both domestically and internationally, being Gareth Southgate’s starting keeper in the last three major tournaments. It’s been a slightly different campaign for the former Sunderland man, as his side are in an unexpected relegation battle.

The 28-year-old has kept six clean sheets for the Toffee’s, with over half of them coming under new manager, Sean Dyche.

3. Kepa Arrizabalaga (4.5)

Since Graham Potter’s arrival, Kepa has played almost every match for Chelsea as he reclaimed his spot from Edouard Mendy. The Spaniard is having a respectable season despite the Blues’ recent form and has the highest save percentage in the league with 80.3%.

The 24-year-old also ranks superbly in goals conceded per 90, sitting on 0.8 which is only bettered by the aforementioned Nick Pope.

2. Bernd Leno (6.7)

When the German left Arsenal many thought that his time in the Premier League was up, but his form for Fulham this season has been exceptional. Preventing almost seven goals this campaign highlights his importance to Marco Silva’s side and could even see them qualify for Europe.

The 31-year-old has kept seven clean sheets in the league in 25 appearances, averaging a rating of 7.03 throughout his time in west London.

1. Alisson Becker (8.6)

Coming in at number one is Liverpool’s number one, Alisson. Preventing almost nine goals so far is unprecedented, especially when you consider the Reds’ form this season. The Brazilian has stopped almost double the amount of goals as Kepa Arrizabalaga in third place, a clear indicator of the standard he has set.

The 30-year-old averages three saves per match and has a save percentage of 73.1%, making him the most all-round goalkeeper this year.
