Qarabag could be on their way to the last 16 of the Europa League after an upset against Braga last week and ahead of their second leg on Thursday, we take a look at where the Azerbaijan side play their home games.

Where Do Qarabag Play Their Home Games?

  • 🏟️ Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium

Qarabag are comfortably the top domestic team in Azerbaijan and so it is unsurprising that they play their home games in the capital of Baku.

The side currently sit atop the Azerbaijan Premier League by some way, with a 25 point margin between them and their nearest competitors in second.

Qarabag’s home ground is the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium which has a capacity of 31,200 fans.

Although the capacity of the ground is just over 30,000, the record attendance held inside Tofiq Bahramov Republican is 50,000 fans, with a bigger capacity allowed back in 1966.

How To Get To Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium

Being the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku has an international airport on the edge of the city and the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium is just a 40 minute drive away from the airport – towards the centre of Baku.

There are direct flights to Baku from London airports, while Liverpool or Manchester flights take a connecting route.

Qarabag Europa League Hopes

Qarabag caused one of the biggest upsets in the Europa League knockout stages so far last week as they cruised past Braga 4-2 to hold a healthy advantage heading into their home tie.

The Baku based club advanced to the knockout stages following an impressive group stage campaign, where only the currently unstoppable Bayer Leverkusen were able to top them in Group H.

Nobody gave Qarabag a chance in Portugal last week, as they faced a Braga side in the knockouts who were just eliminated out of the Champions League following a difficult group stage.

Despite a late goal from Braga in Portugal last week Qarabag hold a commanding advantage in their knockout tie and fans have already been looking forward to their potential opponent in the last 16.

There are eight seeded teams left in the Europa League this season, with the winners of the knockout games this week each earning a last 16 tie against one of the top clubs left in the competition.
