Liverpool and Manchester United will meet for the 240th time but ahead of their game, Sportslens decided to look back at Manchester United’s last win at Anfield.
When Was The Last Time Manchester United Won At Anfield?
It was 14th January 2016 the last time Manchester United beat Liverpool at Anfield.
Manchester United travelled to Anfield with only two wins in their last 11 matches. Manchester United were ahead of Liverpool by three points and were just outside the top four.
Liverpool felt they should’ve won the game as they missed a number of chances. Manchester United David De Gea had a great game putting in some great stops.
The only goal of the match was scored by Wayne Rooney in the 78th minute of the game. It came from a corner in which Rooney struck it on the half volley after it cannoned to him off the crossbar. This goal was significant as it made Rooney the player with the most Premier League goals scored for one club, with a total of 176 goals.
The match ended 1-0 and it took some pressure off Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United jumped six points ahead of Liverpool who remained in 9th place.
Where can I watch Liverpool V Manchester United?
Liverpool V Manchester United is to be broadcasted on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday 17th December with a 4:30pm kick-off.
Liverpool’s form
Liverpool are currently the league leaders; one point ahead of Arsenal in 2nd. Liverpool are flying with the best defence in the league and the second most goals scored in the league behind Manchester City.
They are a completely different side to what we saw from them last season.
Manchester United’s form
Manchester United have just crashed out of the Champions League; finishing in 4th place in their group. Their last Premier League game saw them get beat 3-0 by Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
Manchester United will need a response but there’s not many tricky places to try and get something from than Anfield. I don’t need to remind you that the last time Manchester United travelled to Anfield they got pulverised 7-0.
Manchester United will arrive with injuries too; Harry Maguire being the latest on the injury list for the Red Devils.
Pressure will be mounting on manager Erik Ten Hag but it’ll be mission: impossible to escape out of Anfield with a point or more.
