Almost 47 years ago on February 28, 1976, Newcastle United were beaten 2-1 in the League Cup final by Manchester City at Wembley.

46 years, 11 months and four days have passed since the Magpies last competed in a League Cup final.

Eddie Howe’s side will return to the prestigious fixture later this month to face either Manchester United or Nottingham Forest.
