West Ham vs Wolves Report: Mohammed Kudus Brace Earns West Ham The Win
The hosts entered the game off the back of their win over Freiburg in the Europa League to advance to the knockout rounds. Their last Premier League game was one to forget, however, as they were thumped 5-0 by Fulham last Sunday.
Wolves were on a rut away from home, having lost each of their previous three away from the Molineux. They also have a poor record at West Ham’s London Stadium, losing their last three visits here.
The first half was the Mohammed Kudus show. The Ghana international bagged a brace within 32 minutes, with both strikes assisted by Lucas Paqueta.
First, the Brazilian playmaker found Kudus on the counter, lofting a pass down the wing off the back of a Wolves corner. Kudus rushed inside and blasted a low strike from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. Paqueta then found him again with a switch of play, with Kudus sliding a shot across the goal and in.
The contest was almost wrapped up before the break when Jarrod Bowen’s strike from the edge of the box hit the inside of the post.
Wolves started the second half more brightly and thought they pulled one back when Pablo Sarabia poked home Nelson Semedo’s cross. However, a lengthy VAR check ruled it out for offside.
After 74 minutes, Bowen made it three to secure the three points, thanks to another Paqueta assist.
David Moyes’ side now turn their attention to their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Liverpool on Wednesday before hosting Manchester United in the Premier League. As for Wolves, they welcome Chelsea in their next game.
