West Ham vs Manchester United Report: Bowen Guides Hammers To Victory
The hosts started the match strongly, with Mohamed Kudus forced a superb save from Andre Onana in the opening minutes of the clash.
However, Manchester United took control for the remainder of the half, with Kobbie Mainoo dictating the match from midfield.
The best chance of the half fell to Alejandro Garnacho, after Antony latched on to a misplaced pass and played the Argentinian in one-on-one.
His effort was too tame to cause Alphonse Areola any problems and the teams went into the break level – extending United’s goalless run to 315 minutes (all competitions).
The second-half followed a similar path, as United continued to dominate possession and West Ham failed to create anything of note.
However, the hosts took the lead against the run of play in the 72nd minute, as Jarrod Bowen bundled the ball in following a superb Lucas Paqueta assist.
United never looked like scoring after that and West Ham doubled their lead just six minutes later, as Mohammed Kudus smashed the ball home after a mistake from Mainoo.
Erik ten Hag’s side looked depleted from that point onwards and West Ham cruised to a 2-0 victory – leap frogging Manchester United in the table.
