West Ham Transfer News Exclusive
The Lille full-back has cemented himself as one of the best young talents in Ligue 1 this season, helping build out the team’s impressive displays as they compete for the Champions League positions.
Santos, 21, only joined from Estoril in the summer and there has been an expectation that he would look to spend a little longer in France before projecting his career elsewhere.
But his growth seen a rapid rise and Premier League clubs are already on alert before his valuation starts to take off. Santos joined for just £5.5million and is already showing that price point to be one of the bargain deals of 2023.
West Ham have a close eye on the French top-flight as they seek new talent for the summer and are believed to be impressed by Santos’ skill set and potential to push himself higher.
Aston Villa are looking for new right-back options, with Matty Cash continuing to struggle with injuries and also have the Lille youngster on their watch list.
Tottenham have been looking at Santos, while also scouting others at Lille and at this stage it is more a watching brief as there is a feeling Spurs will sign more of a versatile defender in the summer.
Lille’s main man at the moment is Leny Yoro, with top clubs across Europe scouting him. As an example of how the price-tag for Santos could soon rocket, 18-year-old Yoro is already being valued at over £50 million and Real Madrid are very interested.
It remains to be seen what other West Ham transfer news will break in the coming months with doubts over the long-term future of manager David Moyes.
