Watford priced at 8/1 to be promoted back to the Premier League after defeating West Brom.

  • Watford took an early lead thanks to Ken Sema goal
  • Conor Townsend equalised for the visitors in the second half
  • Ismalia Sarr gave Watford the lead again before Jed Wallace equalised again for West Brom
  • Sema gave Watford the lead for the third time
  • Watford now 8/1 to get promoted.

Two recent Premier League clubs met at Vicarage Road in the Championship’s Monday night game. The game lived up to the hype with five goals between the two sides in London.

Watford got off to a flyer through Sema. The Watford man latched on to a save by the West Brom ‘keeper to put the Hornets ahead.

Watford dominated the first half and looked like they’d cruise to a win in the second half. However, West Brom came out fighting in the second half. Their fight resulted in four goal in the second 45 minutes.

First Townsend equalised for the visitors with a great strike.

Sarr got the home team back in the lead shortly after but Wallace was able to equalise once again. Sema thought he put the team back in the lead but was flagged offside by the linesman. It’s a decision that caused debate amongst fans on Twitter.

Luckily for Watford, Sema was there again and this time onside. He scored the game’s fifth and final goal to give Watford a vital three points.

Who Will Get Promoted?

Burnley looks like they’re set for a return to the Premier League under Vincent Kompany. At 1/500 it seems bookmakers think it’s impossible for them not to get promoted.

Second place looked set to go to Sheffield United, but two defeats on the bounce and the form of Middlesbrough has put question marks on that. Sheffield United are 2/7 and Middlesbrough at 11/10. Their battle for second will be fascinating as the season nears the end.

The playoff picture is wide open. Watford’s win today puts them back in the playoffs, but they’ve played more games than the teams around them. They’re 8/1 to get promoted this season. A good price for a team with their quality.

Sunderland have come into form just in time for the latter stage of the season. Despite only being promoted to the Championship this season after a long hiatus, the Black Cats may have a shot at a return to the Premier League. They’re a higher price than Watford at 9/1.
