“I CAN’T SPAKE!” Watch the greatest leg in the history of darts at the 2023 World Darts Championship which resulted in Michael Smith blowing the roof off Alexandra Palace with a nine-darter.
Watch Greatest Leg Of Darts Ever Between Michael Smith And Michael Van Gerwen
Michael Smith became World Champion in January 2023 after a thrilling and convincing 7-4 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final, collecting his second major title after winning the Grand Slam shortly before.
‘Bully Boy’ became just the second darts player to hit a nine in a World Championship final after Adrian Lewis in 2011, completing the feat straight after Van Gerwen missed double 12 for a nine himself in the same leg.
The moment also birthed a legendary commentary moment from five-time world semi-finalist Wayne Mardle for Sky Sports, where he took inspiration from Mick Morgan’s infamous rant whilst calling a Castleford Tigers game in Rugby League almost 30 years ago.
Smith had his well deserved moment on the world stage, collecting the Sid Waddell trophy and taking home £500,000 for his efforts.

Was Michael Smith’s Nine-Darter The Greatest Ever Seen?
Most darts fans would say Smith’s nine-darter is the best ever seen on TV. 18 darts were thrown, 17 of them were absolute perfection.
Rivals would be Brendan Dolan becoming the first player to throw a perfect leg on TV having to start on a double at the 2011 World Grand Prix vs James Wade.

Or, Phil Taylor’s effort in the Premier League 13 years ago when he had two in one match – for the first time ever. He even almost had three, but missed the treble 17 and closed the leg in ten arrows.
