Wales dropped points to Armenia on Saturday afternoon in their Euro 2024 qualifier, which has left their qualification hopes for the 2024 tournament in major doubt.
Wales Euro Qualification In Doubt
Armenia got off to a perfect start at home on Saturday, as Lucas Zelarayan whipped a vicious shot past Danny Ward in goal from the edge of the box to give the hosts an early advantage.
The game continued to be a very open affair in the first half, with both sides going close to scoring on multiple occasions, but the second goal of the game didn’t come until deep into added time of the first period.
A Conor Roberts long throw took a wicked deflection off an Armenia defender in the box during stoppage time, with the ball flying past the defence before finding the back of the net to level the scores and give Wales hope going into the second half.
Unfortunately for Rob Page’s side Wales couldn’t score in the second half, which meant that their Euro 2024 qualification hopes took a major blow.

Wales needed to win and for Croatia to lose to Latvia this afternoon to automatically qualify for the Euros with a game to spare, but their draw has handed their group rivals a golden opportunity to take second spot with a win today.
All hope is not lost for Wales yet however, as they will be praying that Latvia can get something out of a tough game against Croatia to give them another shot at qualifying for next year’s tournament.
Wales’ last game in the group is against Turkey and regardless of the Croatia result today, the Dragons will need a result against group D’s leaders who have already secured qualification.
If Wales finish level on points with Croatia in the group they will still secure qualification, as it is their head to head record against Croatia that matters rather than goal difference.
